About this School Project (4- Printing with Legos)
Fourth-grade students explored printmaking by creating collagraphs with Legos. A collagraph is a printmaking process where different materials are attached to a hard surface to form a raised texture, which is then used as a printing plate. Students used Legos to design and build their printing plates, focusing on creating visually appealing patterns.
To create their prints, students applied ink to their printing plates using a brayer, a tool that spreads ink evenly. They then placed paper over their inked plates and used their fingers to burnish (rub) the back of the paper, helping to transfer the ink from the raised Lego design to the paper. This hands-on process allowed students to create unique, textured prints while learning foundational printmaking techniques.
Please note: Due to the production process of the canvases, please allow for slight size deviations with a tolerance +/- 1/8" (3.2mm).
